Spectral resolution evaluation by MCNP simulation for airborne alpha detection system with a collimator

In this study, an airborne alpha detection system, which consists of a passivated implanted planar silicon (PIPS) detector and air filter, was developed. A collimator applied to the system showed enhancement in resolution degradation efficiency. The efficiency were compared analyzed evaluate performance collimator. Thus, found be more important than as determining factor performance, from viewpoint radionuclide identification. evaluated on three properties collimator: hole shape, length, ratio between frame pitches. From shape evaluation, hexagonal highest resolution. Further, with pitch 14 mm have while that 4–6 (i.e., 1.2–1.4 times longer pitch)
